Hi Tim, Thanks for the reply. Honestly I don't know how accurate the fix was as it had been spot on throughout the flight and I wasn't particularly looking for it to fail, however every time I've used InFlight I've always had either a blue or green triangle and never had a dropped signal. I also tried the simulator when I got home, worked flawlessly. Strange! It was all just a little weird how it wanted me to go left and descend way below the glideslope after it had lined me up perfectly with the runway. I haven't flown since unfortunately but will surely try it again when I do. Further to this, though, I'm sure I read another post in the past with someone who suffered the same hiccup. Looking through I can't seem to find the post but the problem sounded very similar (line shot off to the left, very early days). Again though, great feature.

Mr Rodge, our runway information for Full Sutton 22 appears to be precise so SkyDemon should not have guided you anywhere but exactly down the centreline. You can confirm this in the SkyDemon Mobile simulator. Perhaps your GPS device's fix was off?

The skydemon trial version is the same as the full version, the only functionality difference is the time restriction. e.g. 30 day limit and will only allow you to navigate using a mobile device for 30 minutes. The extended runway shows up on your mobile device when you approach the airfield. In brief, if there is more than one runway, it shows the one you are approaching, if you don't want that runway, and start to move away from it, it selects the next best runway for your heading, either way, it makes it easy to determine where the runways are. You can try it out on you computer. First enter a route from a to b. then go up to the menu and select 'Go flying' then select 'start simulator'. Then you can fly a route (just note the instructions on how to control the aircraft as you enter the simulator mode) All the runways and warnings will show as you approach your destination.

Just tried the new instruments panel alongside a 296 with a defined descent profile. (My device is the HTC HD2). Wow! Absolutely brilliant. Switched to the instruments display when downwind for 22 at Full Sutton, started following on base and turned final when it told me. Lined me up perfectly with the runway at 1000ft, then when I got down to about 800ft the line disappeared off to the left and the glideslope line dropped off the screen. I descended and went left to try and pick them up but had to abort the chase as it carried me waaay off the approach path (Took me miles left of the centre line and wanted to bring me in more like a car than a plane). Assuming it's due to the beta. Loved it though!
When will we be looking at a final for 2.1? Can't wait!
Also, is there a warning that will show up when descending below 500ft? When I tried to intercept the lines and passed below 500ft I wasn't told the ILS would disable by the device. Is this something that's in the pipeline?
Thanks again, brilliant stuff.

Thank you Tim. This is a very nice feature. Is the line thickness of the purple needles sufficient enough to make them clearly visible during the day? The diagram shown on the website gives the impression that they may just be be a teeny weeny on the slim side.
As I said, it would be difficult to beat the colours you´ve chosen. well done Tim & SD Co.

If you reposition to another runway, SkyDemon will pick that up automatically. As soon as you go outside a 5 degree slice projecting from a runway it switches out of APCH mode anyway. I think a new discussion will probably be in order once the feature is finished; this one is mostly about the idea and prototype.

Tim, this looks brilliant. I have been thinking that my NAV kit can be easily replaced by SD, at least to make the aeroplane lighter! I actually like the choice of colours in the HSI. Actually very difficult to beat.
Can I ask:
1. Would the runway designator at the bottom of the HSI change automatically in the event of last minute landing runway change. eg. I am asked to approach runway 05, but half way through the approach I am asked to reposition to land on 23.
2. Can we this discussion be moved to SD mobile, once the this is released, for ease of reference, perhaps?
Once more congratulations on a very user friendly, all rounded product.

April 7th. If it slips, it'll be May 5th. Note that the glideslope part of the pseudo-ILS will probably be disabled by default, and you may need to agree to an additional disclaimer and advisory before it will appear.

A number of pilots at my club are interested in this. Could you give any indication when it will be released?
